Golden Agents: Creative Industries and the Making of the Dutch Golden Age
The aim of the Golden Agents project, funded by NWO, is to build a large infrastructure to enable analyses of interactions between domains, producers and consumers of the creative industries of the Dutch Golden Age. Most claims in the vast literature about success in the Dutch Golden Age are based on specialized historical studies or are extrapolations of analyses of separated, often small digital data sets on the production of the creative industries. Semantic Web technology will link these heterogeneous data sets in Linked Open Data.

Digital research tools for the exploration of urban creativity: Linked Cultural Events
Cultural events have not received systematic attention in the study of urban creativity. To redress this, we introduce the concept of linked events as a conceptual and methodological tool. Linked cultural events are analytical units with structural properties and linkages to actors, institutions and urban characteristics. In the CREATE databases on theatrical (ONSTAGE) and musical (FELIX performances, they are modeled in a data structure that allows for querying such properties and linkages (linked data).

Linked data in the Clariah Structured Datahub: an end-user perspective.
Linked (open) data has a big role throughout the Clariah project and in digital humanities projects in general. The Clariah structured datahub is gathering a large body of research data from social and economic history and providing it as linked data. In this talk I present this hub as an end-user who is also very close to the development process. What are we developing? What choices have we made? What works well and what doesn’t? What can the structured datahub and linked data offer researchers?
