Message from Utrecht University Digital Humanities Community:

We would like to invite you to the first Utrecht University Digital Humanities Community Event, which will take place on Friday 7 October 2016, 14:00-17:00 in the Sweelinckzaal, Drift 21. This networking event is open to all UU staff interested in interdisciplinary work at the intersection of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Information and Computing Sciences — in what is now commonly known as “digital humanities” and “digital social sciences”. (Research) master students are also particularly welcome to attend.

The programme (see below) features several talks, but, most importantly, there will be ample time to meet people, share experiences, discuss work in progress, talk about methodological issues, demonstrate prototypes, and maybe to start new collaborations. One excellent way of getting to know each other — though perhaps less well-known in the humanities — is by means of poster presentations, which will happen during the break and drinks. Even if you haven’t done this kind of presentation before, we’d like to invite you to give it a try. Help is provided below. If you happen to have a suitable poster from a previous conference or other occasion, please bring it along. Please notify Frans Wiering (f.wiering@uu.nl) if you need more information or intend to present a poster. A poster can be a great conversation starter!

Programme:
14:00 Joris van Eijnatten (Cultural History, co-leader Digital Humanities initiative): Where do we come from, where are we now, and where are we going?
14:15 Nina Rosa and TBA (PhD students Game Research): Experiences from interdisciplinary game research
14:45 coffee/tea and posters
15:30 Frans Wiering (Digital Humanities Research Fellow): Who are we, what do we do, and what do we want? Some insights from the recent DH questionnaire
16:00 drinks and posters
