Between 2013 and 2016 the European HERA Travelling TexTs project was being carried out in 5 countries – one of those being the Netherlands, more precisely The Hague: Huygens ING. The other countries were the United Kingdom (with the project leader in Glasgow), Finland, Norway and Slovenia. This research project had been prepared during a European COST Action, and was being done within an online database. The database itself was also completely restructured, extended and further developed – allowing new research. Some of the outcomes were already presented and published; two books are to follow.

This central database, transformed into the NEWW VRE (NEWW as: New approaches to European Women’s Writing) will be presented to colleagues, students and interested readers of women’s literature, June 14th and 15th in Amsterdam, during a NIAS workshop organized at Spinhuis.

This workshop will illustrate the progress made – thanks to the COST and HERA projects, as well as to  support by NWO, SURF and CLARIN-NL – for research about women’s literary history. The ways in which the NEWW VRE is functioning will be demonstrated. This tool will indeed be also at the core of future and ongoing collaboration: in the form of a recently created DARIAH Working Group, entitled Women Writers in History. We will highlight the coherence and continuity between the earlier research, digitizing and internationalizing projects and this new, more open, situation as a Working Group.

The workshop will be held in English and covers 2 days: the “presentation day” (14 June) will be followed by an expert meeting in which Working Group members will discuss their future collaboration.
