Dutch Opera Context delivers a database of opera stagings in the Netherlands based on the Annalen van de Nederlandse Operagezelschappen 1886-1995, published by the Dutch National Opera and the Dutch Theatre Institute. Apart from dates and titles, the database identifies artists, musicians, singers and all those cultural entrepreneurs involved in staging opera in the Netherlands. Furthermore it contains information about translations of opera’s and in some cases even deviant languages of individual arias. The database offers a valuable resource for studying the practices and networks that have facilitated the transfer between trans-European opera culture and Dutch opera life.
